Double belting

Once upon a time I saw a picture of a girl with a belt that wrapped around her waist 3 times. And loved it. However, I can't get any of my belts around my waist more than 1.5 times, and didn't know if an xxl belt would do. So, I did what any crafty girl would do and grabbed two similar belts to achieve the same look. I took the end of one belt and the beginning of the other and looped them together just as I would if I was tightening one belt. Does that make sense? Basically the holes from one and the latch thing from the other get put together the same way you would tighten a normal belt.

I was pretty excited when it ended up working. Oh and don't mind the mess in the background. I'm still trying to figure out which heights work the best for pictures. I feel like I'm getting closer to figuring it out.

Almost a two-for.

This post was originally supposed to be a two-for-one post. I didn't post an outfit yesterday and had planned to just post both today. But. Someone must have stolen my camera and deleted all of my good pictures of yesterdays outfit and only left the bad ones. Or maybe it had to do with running late and not realizing I didn't snap any good ones. It's a mystery that is currently under investigation.

Turns out, I didn't get too great of pictures for todays outfit either. Story of my life. I like taking pictures in the morning because I am fresh and my makeup and hair look probably as good as they will for the day. But the snooze button is my friend and I start eliminating morning tasks just for 5 minutes more of sleep. The difference between 7:30 and 7:40 today was outfit pictures and properly curling my hair.

Here's to getting dressed early enough tomorrow. Or maybe investing in a tripod.

Cardigan: BP (thrifted) $1.50
Shirt under: moms closet FREE
Skirt: Banana Republic (thrifted) $5
Belt: Thrifted $1
Shoes: Thrifted $5 (with LOTS of disinfectant)

See? Sad stuff. I have been loving these shoes lately. And a student today asked me if I was a "shoe enthusiast." When I asked why he thought that, he said that normal people wouldn't wear those shoes. Not sure if I should be offended or flattered. Either way, I heart the shoes.

Anyone have some stellar self timer outfit tricks for a rookie?? Share away!

Case it.

Today was a full day of meetings, where the term "Case it" was learned and used all day. This acronym stands for Copy and Steal Everything- actually, it may stand for something else but after a full day of sitting, my brain is mush. When I heard CASE, I instantly thought of fashion blogs and how I have a special little folder on my computer full of pictures that inspire outfits. Although I have yet to copy an outfit exactly; I get inspired by colored combinations, mixing patterns, and certain pieces of clothing in these pictures. So, if you ever see an outfit.. case it and save it in a folder for those days when you are feeling uninspired.

Mixing stripes is fun. Try it.

A collection

Prior to starting a blog, it was something that was really encouraged. I am still not sure about it, as I look to other fashion bloggers who are able to take pictures of their outfits with really good lighting and scenery. Most of the time I take my pictures as I'm rushing out the door because the lazy part of me doesn't want to reapply my make-up when I get home. But for now, I will blame it on the fact that when I return from work, it is dark. The pictures are something I still need to really work out, but other than that, it's been a fun week reading comments.

I have a whole lot of pictures on my computer and phone that I thought I would put up today. A lot of these are REALLY old and I'm sure that I will look back and laugh at some of the pictures and outfits.

Both of these were outfit posts from my other blogs. The bottom picture is actually an XL sweater from Goodwill with the sleeves tucked up... one of my favorite items to this day.

I get really bored just wearing a plain jersey. So here is how I try to dress mine up a little bit.

In love with these heels and oh so comfy.

I saw an interesting scarf on Pinterest one day, so decided to test out tying two scarves together and fell in love with the look... it's an easy and safe way to mix patterns!

I love color blocking.  A lot.

My lace skirt is one of my favorite items in the entire world. Best $5 ever spent.

More color blocking. I love being comfy when I run errands on the weekends and outfits like these are my kind of thing.

Welp, that's all I have for this Sunday evening. Back to laundry!

I know my Calculus...

Hitting snooze 3 times + no outfit picked out for work x 15 minutes to get ready= mediocre outfit and very bad pictures.

Yep, sleeping in felt amazing. Being rushed didn't feel so great. Luckily I had worn this shirt on my birthday and I loved this necklace with it. Pairing it with the yellow pencil skirt seemed like the natural thing to do, but it still looked a little blah. Throwing on a blue ruffly shirt underneath it made me feel more confident about the outfit for work. It looks like a collared shirt, but it's a ruffly tank top type shirt that I really never wear. Moral of the story: sometimes it pays to keep things you never wear in your closet, regardless of what those over acheiver- closet organizer people say.

Here's the shirt as I wore it for my Birthday: (I didn't get a direct picture, this was the closest thing)

And here is how I wore the shirt/necklace to work today:

Shirt: Charlotte Russe ($10), Blue under ruffly shirt: Random store that was closing ($1), Skirt: F21 ($7), Necklace: Charlotte Russe ($8), Belt: F21 ($1.50), Shoes: Gifted

You're just not glittery enough

In high school, my catch phrase was "you're just not glittery enough." I thought there was no such thing as too much glitter, and fully believed that everyone could benefit from a little bit of sparkle in their life. When I was a junior in college, I had a baby pink rhinestoned blackberry case that I loved so dearly. But I will never forget that awkward moment when I sat down at an important meeting, placed my sparkly phone on the desk, and received questioning looks. After that meeting, the blackberry case came off and sparkles banished from my life- as I was on a journey to start my "career" and wanted to be taken seriously.

Welp, fast forward a few years and here I am wearing sparkly pink shoes to work. After a few rough lessons, I have learned that changing who you are is never a good thing. My life is a whole lot better with sparkle back in it, and no one is ever taking it away from me again.

Thanks for visiting! (P.s. Look around a little, this probably isn't the newest post if you're joining me from a link up party) (P.p.s. Following me would make my day... I have high hopes for this blog!)

Pink Skirts

As of very recently, I am a skirt kind-of girl. I used to be a jeans and legging type of girl, & trust me, I still love those bad boys. But, there is just something so feminine and powerful about wearing skirts in the office. Pants are expected; skirts make me feel girly and confident in ways that pants never did. Even on days when I am dressed like Pepto Bismol from head to toe... skirts still manage to make me feel successful.

Here's my pink skirt from today. Followed by a different pink skirt last week. Two completely different looks.

Shirt: Loft (thrifted) $3
Skirt: thrifted $1.99
Necklace: JcPennys $6
Belt: thrifted $1
Shoes: Nine West (gifted)

Shirt: Ann Taylor (thrifted) $1
Tank top: F21 $5
Skirt: Charlotte Russe (thrifted) $3
Belt: (thrifted) $.50
Shoes: Charlotte Russe $6
