Peek a boo.
I am in love with this peek a boo shirt. It is comfy and fun and so summery! Oh and the fact that it was $7 really helps it's case.
From where? Where else but here?? Looks like they only have grey left, but I would buy it in every color if I could. And can you tell what my new favorite necklace is?? It was worth all $8.

Cas-u-al.
I am giving in to casual Friday for today and today only. Life has been crazy busy with my managers baby shower coming up, starting class last night, and spending a few late nights at work. Casual Friday just sounded way too tempting for me. I can't remember the last time I wore short leggings, but they seemed more appropriate with this dress. P.S. this dress has pink and white stripes, my camera just wasn't picking them up... you can snag the dress here
Happy casual Friday!

$12
It bums me out when my camera doesn't picture an amazing dress the way it should. But, since I always seem to be in a rush in the morning, I never have time to perfect the lighting and pictures. So, it saddens me to show you pictures of a dress that is AMAZING in real life. I absolutely love the versatility of the dress. I wore it to work, but it would make the cutest day dress and could be dressed up for dinner. And the best part? It was only $12 at Target!
On a different note, I start class tomorrow night. It's weird to be a grad student again... I thought I was only going to go through the experience once. Bring on the caffeine.

Keeping up with Blogger
Is anyone else confused by the new blogger layout? I'm sure in time it will not be as confusing and I'll think "wow, it really makes sense why they made these changes." But for now, I will hopelessly try to navigate around, reminiscing on the good ol' days. I do like the clean lines and layout, but I am creature of habit and try to cling to what I'm used to for as long as I possibly can.

Winter Sweaterr
Rainy days call for winter sweaters. San Diego has been very weather confused lately, but considering all "winter" long it was 80-90 degrees, I will take a little bit of chilly weather. But come April, I would like our nice warm weather back.
Sweater: Charlotte Russe $5
Scarf: Forever 21 $6
Skirt: Goodwill $5
Belt: Goodwill
And I didn't wear these shoes, the shoes I wore were in the car.

TGIF
Today I kind of went for the casual Friday look. Although, we are permitted to wear jeans on Friday.... I still won't let myself get to that level. In my mind, jeans are for the weekend and non work days.
I found this blazer at Goodwill and fell in loveeee with it. $5.99 from Forever21 and blazers very rarely fit me. But, to go with the casual theme, I skipped the heels and opted for flats and a red striped shirt. This outfit could've gone to the neutral side without me even noticing... so I wanted to make sure I avoided it. I added pops of pink in the necklace and belt to try to throw off the nautical look of the shirt.

Grad Student, Again.
I am so in love with my bag. And when I found it yesterday I thought to myself "this will be a great school bag." Being a student again. Weird. Next week I start my second masters program... this time a Masters in Education/Adult Education Training. I am so excited about this program as I am in love with the curriculum. So here's to being a student again... bring of the coffee and all nighters. I have a feeling that my Thursdays are going to start getting soooo long... Work 9-6 and then class 6-10. Luckily I can just walk from my desk to my classroom. Benefits of working at a school.
Pay no attention to the weird bulge popping out of my face. I wish I would've seen this on my camera before leaving the house.

Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow. You're only a day awayyyyyyyyy.
Tomorrow I officially get my spot back. Today I had it back for about 30 seconds so I only got one picture in. Tomorrow morning, the house is mine and I get to take as many pictures as I want without an audience or questions. Although, things do get really quiet when family leaves after a visit.
On a complete side note... I am LOVING my military students. Hearing "Yes ma'am" and "roger that" all day long makes me giggle.

Introducing My Closet!
They say a clean closet is a happy closet. And since my closet becomes very grumpy when she's a mess, I am going to have to agree with this one. My closet enjoys being clean, she loves when I give her new friends, and from time to time, she lets me cry on her shoulder. {if you haven't tried crying in your closet, give it a shot... solid bonding moments produce solid outfits}. She's trustworthy and I just love coming home to her every night. After all, who needs dogs these days when you have a closet like mine?
Unfortunately, my closet is the first thing to get messy. In the morning rush I don't have time to put everything back perfectly, and well, my closet starts to get a little sloppy. Fortunately, I do have systems in place that help me stay organized.
Meet my closet. She's not the biggest thing, but it's what's on the inside that counts...

Meet my closet. She's not the biggest thing, but it's what's on the inside that counts...
And most of the time, when I need her to look like that, my bed needs to look like this...
But, like I said before, I have a few things in place that help me manage my closet a little bit better.
Exhibit A: My mirror. Looks like a normal mirror on the outside, but open it up and TA-DA!
From the outside you would never know this mirror held all of this. It keeps the appearance of my room looking nice, eliminates the need for jewelry organizers, and keeps everything in it's place.
(See mirror here for it's original price. But a few weeks of searching on Craigslist and I found this brand new for $80. )
Exhibit B: My skirt hangers. I found the most amazing skirt hangers at Wal-Mart and only Wal-Mart. They are $4.88 per hanger but hang 12 skirts in the least amount of space ever. Prepared to be amazed.
Do you see what a small amount of space my skirts take up in my closet? And guess how many are there...
Let me just tell you, I shocked myself with the number.
Drum roll please........ 60 skirts! In that small space! (P.s. how many skirts makes you a skirt-aholic?)
Exhibit C: A good shelving system. I can't take too much credit for the shelving system that was already in place in my closet. But, if you ever have a choice, these shelves are the perfect shelves/shoe racks.
Exhibit D: Ottoman that doubles as a step ladder and a belt holder. Who noticed that little pink box on my closet floor? I had the problem of not being able to reach my top shelves and I also had an issue storing my belts. So combine the two problems and a storage ottoman was the perfect solution. Best $25 ever spent... thanks Target. (Actually, I mentioned wanting this ottoman once for this very reason and Donnie actually surprised me with it!) See ottoman here. (Also available in other colors)
Who else can give me more tips about great storage solutions?? (P.S. Sorry for the lack of posting... company is leaving tomorrow morning and I will have my picture spot back on Wednesday!)

Black, White & Grey
Apparently San Diego is in for the biggest storm of this years "winter" this weekend. So today's forecast? Grey skies and coldness. I decided to match my outfit to the weather and came up with a black, white and grey color combination. Although, someone brought it to my attention that I should have worn some red in my outfit today since my Alma Mater is playing in the NCAA championship and our colors and red and black. {Go SDSU!}
Also, I apologize for the pictures. Starting next week I should have my normal spot back and all will be right again. But for now, this timed picture in the middle of the street before leaving for work will have to do.

Gingham.
I can't even explain the pull that my body feels when it spots a gingham printed shirt. I become helpless, my legs just go and the shirt somehow ends up in my hands... all completely out on my control. But my closet always has open arms to all newbies and seems to favor gingham as well, so this little shirt made it's way all the way to my closet last night and found it's little spot... right next to the dark blue gingham button up.
I wish these pictures did this shirt and outfit justice. But with family downstairs, watching me take pictures and wondering why, I freaked out after one picture and quickly ran out the door.

Photo Spot
It felt so nice to get back in my little photo spot and snap some pictures this morning. As much as I loved yesterdays outfit, I couldn't get the right pictures and since the pictures didn't do the outfit pictures, I opted to not post them. But getting back in that little spot today felt so nice! For some reason, I just can't get that lighting or angle at any other place in my house.

Cardigan: Wet Seal $5
Skirt: Limited via Goodwill $5
Necklace: Forever21 $7

I really didn't plan for the shoes to match with the skirt as well as they did. But, I'll take it!

Daylight Savings Time
With family visiting, a new role at work and my car not starting this morning, my outfit pictures came out terrible. But with so much going on, I am proud of myself for managing to get pictures in the morning (I sure wasn't about to take pictures in my usual place with my family watching) and again in the afternoon.
But despite the car troubles, today was a day that made me realized how incredibly blessed I am to have a dad who will cancel his plans to drive 2 hours without any questions to come fix my car. And I'm one day away from knowing all of the military education benefits so I can continue to enroll students but on the military side. Good stuff over here.
With daytime savings time here, I think I will now be able to get a few outside pictures on the days when I don't work late or have class.
