Weather

After living in San Diego for most of my life, I think I am finally starting to figure out that we do have seasons, but they are just delayed. For example, Sept-Jan is typically still very warm while the rest of the country gets snowed out. I can't remember the last Christmas I didn't wear a dress or shorts. But then February through April/May is gloomy, rainy and sucky, so when all the other states are finally starting to experience warmth again, our cold season is starting. I felt like this intro was needed for my Friday and Saturday outfits. Why? Because one is for our cold weather yesterday and one is for our warm weather today.

Wednesday Thursday Blend

Since I started this new program, Wednesdays and Thursdays seem to blend together. Fridays have become distinct from the week, as it's the day after class and I feel like I can breathe again for a second.

Speaking of not being able to breathe... I have two presentations to do tonight, neither one is finished. In fact, one isn't even started.

I decided 5 more minute isn't going to hurt, so here is yesterdays and todays outfit. I feel like my style starting to shift & will elaborate more tomorrow.

I decided on this Marc Jacobs computer bag. A little plain but the professionalism that I need.

Snake skin & floral.

I was so excited to find this long lost cardigan. It's from Express (via Goodwill), but it's fitted and knitted and all sorts of cute! And the floral and snake combo? I needed to think of a way to make the snake print less animal print-y. I felt a solid would've made the skirt stand out a lot. Where as now, I don't think the main focal point is the skirt. Mission accomplished.

Cardigan: Express via Goodwill $3
Floral Shirt: Nordstrom (sooo old)
Belt: f21
Skirt: Target via Goodwill $4 (softest skirt I own)

I hope that with all the thrifting outfits, it has been made very clear that I am not materialistic- not even the least bit. But, I have this problem with buying inexpensive bags for my computer/school work and having them rip 2 weeks later. And if I have learned anything from my one splurge purse, it's that paying for quality in situations like these is okay and justifiable.

So, now I am torn as to which one of these computer bags I want. I love all 3 designs and at $118 each, I can definitely only pick one. I immediately loved the middle one, but then decided that it may be a little too trendy. I'm looking for something that can last through the seasons. The one on the right is also sooo cute, but is it too little girly? In the end, I think the one of the left is the most me. I always pick stripes. But, the middle one may be the most mature for meetings and such. Help meeeee!!!!

Tax return day!

Tax return day and pay day made for a very great morning. Thank you grad school for making me eligible for the Lifetime Learner Credit. And it took me until age 24 to finally get considered independent to actually receive the credits for my schooling... but it was oh so worth the wait.

I figured the responsible thing was 90% savings and 10% play. Right? The mall is going to be my friend tomorrow.. anyone have any suggestions as to what I must have?!

This is the most casual Friday I've ever had. But I am loving how different this outfit is from my normal preppy style. Sometimes I start feeling like I'm too old for the preppy look.

What do you think? Too old? Or still ok?

Thursday means it's almost Friday!

Today was one of those morning when my closet dressed me. Birds flew around and they cut ribbons and picked out my shoes and it was completely out of my control. Music played and a prince picked me up for a ball. The clock hasn't struck midnight yet, but I am going to make sure that I hang on to these shoes. Because I love them and well, they aren't actually mine.

In all seriousness, todays outfit really did just kind of pick itself. The original outfit I had planned didn't work out too well. So I closed my eyes, grabbed a skirt, grabbed a shirt, put on the original shoes I planned to wear, and crossed my fingers. My necklace even clumped itself up for me... It doesn't normally look like this, but I'm not complaining. You should all try it. Just close your eyes, turn in 3 circles, and start grabbing random items.

Minty Freshy

I'm sitting at work, super iffy about this outfit. But with -3 minutes to get dressed, I had to do what I needed to. Leaving the house without feeling confident in my outfit makes me feel icky all day and no one likes to feel icky all day. Maybe I'll try to play around with the sweater in the bathroom. On a completely different note... it felt so good just using that conjunction. Can't, won't shouldn't, didn't, hadn't, needn't... Take that grad papers.

Skirt: Ross $9 (worn here)
Sweater: Target $6 (dress from f21 underneath)
Mint shoes: Wet Seal $10

If this was your outfit, what would you add to it?

New Neutrals.

I found myself giddy today when I realized that this skirt would be perfect for these new shoes. I absolutely love this skirt and get so excited every time I get to wear it. I mean, it has pockets for goodness sake. I also discovered that when I have things in my closet that I love, I really love them... this belt for example. Haven't you heard that stripes are the new neutral?

Getaways & Pencil Skirts

Friends. I think I have discovered the key to life. I may be a little late in this discovery, but seriously, getaways are amazing. Coming back to work today wasn't something I dreaded (although I never really dread it), but I left feeling overworked and came back feeling rejuvenated. Amazing stuff.

I think the key to life is also pencil skirts. Especially ones that were only $11.

Sweater: f21 $5 (on super sale)
Necklace: Wet seal $1
Skirt: Random store in Nevada, $11 (it's called Rhapsodielle, and unfortunately there are none close to me!)

Long overdue

Hellooooo! Have you missed me??! I can't even begin to describe the excitement typing "blogger.com" gave me this morning. And after this post I get to catch up on all of the blog action I've been missing.

Where have I been? Oh you know... work, grad school, Easter, life. Getting back in the swing of school was tougher than I thought it would be... especially since this program seems to be a whole lot more work than the last. But being a student again has been fun... I pulled my first all nighter last Thursday and reminisced on the undergraduate days in the library.

What have I been wearing?

Saturday:
Dress: NWT Forever21 via Goodwill $7
Belt: Stolen from my Easter dress (see below)

Easter Sunday:

Hat: Forever 21 $10.80
Earrings: Forever 21 (Old, but probably 2.80)
Dress with belt: Target $7
Fish Sandals: Random store a few years back, $10

Monday: (there is something about a high bun that I love so much)

Skirt: Banana Republic via thrifted
Belt: Forever 21 $5

That's what I've been wearing!

.

Remember that girl who said that she doesn't dress casual on casual Friday? Well, I have a feeling she is forever gone after experiencing casual friday and it's amazing-ness last week. From now on, casual Friday is in full effect. I even wore flats to work, which is something I never do!

And for Thursday's outfit... I apologize for not posting. Thursday gets very long with work from 9-6 and class 6-10.

Simple

I almost paired this shirt with a deep navy pencil skirt. And when I remembered this skirt, I crossed my little fingers because the outfit looked so cute in my head. And it translated! I love when outfits look good in my head and continue to stay cute when I actually put them together. I didn't want to add too much to this outfit, I love it being simple. Sometimes less is more, ya know?

P.S. ignore the wrinkles. they are permanent and refuse to come out. I'm trying to not let them drive me insane.

Also, I need help with a presentation for Thursday. I'm trying to think of movies, shows or sayings that have helped me remember important dates and random things. When I was little, (and in college), schoolhouse rock helped me remember history dates. And I know other shows and sitcoms have taught me stuff... I just can't remember right now. Any ideas? What have you remembered as a direct result of watching it?

Shirt: f21 online sale $9
Skirt: Banana Republic via Goodwill $1.50

Monday

I have a secret. I wore this dress all day yesterday. And this morning I decided to put a skirt over it and wear it again. Without washing it. But, I loved the dress as a dress. And I love the dress as a shirt.

Happy Monday!!!
