You're just not glittery enough

In high school, my catch phrase was "you're just not glittery enough." I thought there was no such thing as too much glitter, and fully believed that everyone could benefit from a little bit of sparkle in their life. When I was a junior in college, I had a baby pink rhinestoned blackberry case that I loved so dearly. But I will never forget that awkward moment when I sat down at an important meeting, placed my sparkly phone on the desk, and received questioning looks. After that meeting, the blackberry case came off and sparkles banished from my life- as I was on a journey to start my "career" and wanted to be taken seriously.

Welp, fast forward a few years and here I am wearing sparkly pink shoes to work. After a few rough lessons, I have learned that changing who you are is never a good thing. My life is a whole lot better with sparkle back in it, and no one is ever taking it away from me again.

Pink Skirts

As of very recently, I am a skirt kind-of girl. I used to be a jeans and legging type of girl, & trust me, I still love those bad boys. But, there is just something so feminine and powerful about wearing skirts in the office. Pants are expected; skirts make me feel girly and confident in ways that pants never did. Even on days when I am dressed like Pepto Bismol from head to toe... skirts still manage to make me feel successful.

Here's my pink skirt from today. Followed by a different pink skirt last week. Two completely different looks.

Shirt: Loft (thrifted) $3
Skirt: thrifted $1.99
Necklace: JcPennys $6
Belt: thrifted $1
Shoes: Nine West (gifted)

Shirt: Ann Taylor (thrifted) $1
Tank top: F21 $5
Skirt: Charlotte Russe (thrifted) $3
Belt: (thrifted) $.50
Shoes: Charlotte Russe $6

Be our Guest

Last day of 23 has been a good one... went to work and was surprised by a candy theme cubicle and only worked half a day! The business Belle was a hit, although, most people just thought I wore a fluffy yellow skirt for fun. Had I not been attempting business Belle, I am pretty sure I would have never picked out this skirt- you should have seen the look on the cashiers face as she rung it up. If Belle was to leave the forest, I am pretty confident that this is what she would look like. She would even bring the red rose along and make it a ring ;)

Almost 24.

I hated this mornings outfit when I left today. I love the skirt, but felt the outfit lacked creativity of any kind. It was expected... nothing surprising about it. But it sure was a hit. People loved it. And then came "where did you get your skirt?" and once again, I shocked people. Slowly but surely I will start turning everyone in the office into thrift store goers.

Shirt: Target ($6)
Skirt: F21 (thrifted, nwt $5)
Heels: Ross ($12)
Belt: F21 ($6?)
Ring: F21 ($3)

The skirt came with a sash. But it looked like I was going to a birthday party. Speaking of birthdays (that segway totally wasn't planned), tomorrow is my last day as a 23 year old. And long story short, was challenged at work today that I wouldn't dress up like business Belle tomorrow. I love a good challenge, especially one that involves dressing up. Stay tuned for Beauty and the Beast goes business tomorrow.

Practice makes perfect

Starting blog #2 is scary. My first blog, to remain unnamed, was a flop... for lack of better words. And the idea of starting a second blog when the first didn't succeed, is something I am still trying to wrap my head around. My first blog I tried to hard. I read other bloggers, fell in love with their lives, and tried to write the same way they did. I started running out of topics due to lack of passion on my subject, I watched the stats too closely, and my blog began getting further and further away from it's original goal. It was a mess.

So here is blog #2. And it came with quite a bit of encouragement. It was something I've secretly wanted to do for quite some time... and more and more people continue to tell me that it's something I should start. And as I quickly approaching 24 and my career, in a completely different realm, is taking off... I figure why not. But this time around, I'm not starting a blog to try to boost my career. In fact, it's quite the opposite. My sole purpose for this blog is to share how I have boosted my career and confidence by playing real life dress up... every day.

I haven't quite figured out the dynamics of the blog yet. And I am going to definitely need to figure out a better solution for taking outfit pictures before work (my macbook and cell phone don't take very impressive pictures). But, I figured I would start now and in a month, look back and laugh at the first group of pixelated pictures I posted.

The correlation between how you dress and how you feel is incredible. And when you feel good about how you are dressing, your confidence goes up, your attitude goes up, and as a direct result, just about everything else in life goes up. So here it goes... outfit post #1.
