It has taken me 24 years to figure out that picking out my outfit the night before saves me a lot of stress in the morning. In high school I was really good about planning outfits and writing them down. Yes, I wrote down EVERY outfit I wore... down to the shoes and what my hair looked like. OCD much?
Through college I didn't do much planning, but post college, I have gone back to my high school ways. And instead of writing it down, I guess I blog about it now? Typically I pick out my outfits at night and try them on to make sure they look ok and tweak what I need to. However, some nights- like last night, I just hang up some stuff and hope that it looks good in the morning. Most of the time I give myself a few back up options, apparently last night I was feeling brave because I gave myself one option this morning.
Here is what the process of my morning and tweaking outfits looks like...
The night before. "Staging" in my closet
The dress that I love ($10 at Buffalo Exchange) but a little too boring for work.
The dress, the blazer and the scarf. And after putting it all together, I started getting nervous that it wouldn't work out too well. Until...
I added the belt and tied the scarf a different way.
It was my first time wearing these shoes ($15 at DSW), the dress, and the denim blazer ($5 thrifted). They have all been pretty difficult pieces to find outfits for, so when I found this dress at Buffalo Exchange, it made me glad that I didn't rush outfits with the other pieces.
Now I'm off to pick out my outfit for tomorrow! The process starts again...
